In Room

The In Room screen combines the requirements for Procedure Room Information and Image Capture.

Procedure Room Information
This records when the procedure start time, who was present (and their role), the scopes that were used, any drugs that were administered.

Start Time
You can either type the time in or click the drop down to select a time

Staff
Select the staff who are present during the procedure (Endoscopist/s and Nurses)

By default the Endoscopist assigned to the list will be automatically added to the staff, you can use the two existing boxes to add nurses and if required click the Add Staff to add additional staff boxes.

NOTE: If the Endoscopist is not the booked staff member then the list will initially appear blank to ensure that the correct details are added. This is as a result of some sites not being able to guarantee which person will be completing the list at the time of booking or to ensure if an Endoscopist is taking a colleagues list that the the correct endoscopist is credited with the case.

Use the Save Staff Defaults button to save these members of staff, this way you can recall the same staff (Load Staff Defaults) when you do the next procedure. The Saved Staff Defaults are cleared when you logout of EMS.

NOTE: It is not possible to use the [Load Staff] button when completing the second procedure in a double case. The system pulls the staff details from the first procedure. You can of course manually change the staff if required.

Endoscopist Role / Trainees
For trainee endoscopists you can use the role field  to specify their role in the procedure (see the options below), this is one of the settings that will be used by EMS to upload trainees data to the NED / JETS e-portfolio database when the service becomes available.

Scopes
Select the scope/s being used for the procedure from the list of available scopes (the scopes displayed are specific to the procedure/s being performed)

Drugs
Select the drugs used during the procedure (this list will vary depending on the procedure/s being performed)

Clicking on a drug will expand to show the specific attributes for that drug

Each drug will have a default dose and unit (all attributes in red are mandatory)

Images
Users will see the live image on screen, when an image is captured by the Endoscopist, an enlarged image is seen on the screen for a few seconds to confirm capture. The image will then appear as a thumbnail image on screen below the live image.
