Polyp Detection Rates

OVERVIEW

In the event that audit reports are run and it appears that an endoscopists "Polyp Detection Rate" is either odd or nil, it may be that the user is not recording poly findings correctly within the software. As a result of this any audit reports may not reflect your expectations.

POLYP DETECTION RATE
This value is a simple calculation that looks at the endoscopists total number of colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy procedures completed and rates as a percentage the number of those cases where polyps were detected. It is vital that the detection of polyps is recorded against a site and NOT simply recorded in free text comments. The use of free text comments do NOT count towards any statistics.

With the appropriate site active (the number is red), in the Finding locate the option for "polyps" and select it. This then opens up the options to describe the polyps seen. See the image below for reference. This is how to correctly record a polyp for inclusion in the associated reports. 



POLYPECTOMY
Having recorded the fact that you have detected a Polyp you may wish to record the removal of it.
Click the button [Switch to Procedures]


Having selected the option, you will be presented with a list of potential procedures. Locate the option for polypectomy and select it. This will open a list of options. Those values that are mandatory will be highlighted and MUST be completed. If you require, you can complete the other (non highlighted) options to provide a fuller description of the procedure.



Once all of the details of your procedure have been recorded they will automatically be saved as you move on to the next screen.
