Validation is the process of ensuring that required data is present and of the correct type before allowing it to be saved to EMS. 

 
If we try and save this referral EMS will show the following Validation Summary message appears at the top of the screen, in order to save the data you must correct all of the validation issues first.



Many data items within EMS require additional attributes, some of which are mandatory, these are shown in red, as can be seen below:



Additional validation is also applied to these attributes, as shown below Count and Size can only accept whole number values.
