Creating a Referral

OVERVIEW

This is the first step in the patient pathway, first Find a Patient

Once you have located the patient you can either:
  • Create New Referral
This will take you to the Referral Screen at the start of the care pathway and the episode will have to go through each pathway step to progress
  • Create an Unscheduled Referral
This will take you to the Referral Screen and will allow you to select the appointment type, once you have completed the referral screen it will take you directly to the Referral Reasons screen all the skipping the steps in between.
  • Create an Emergency Referral
This will take you to the Referral Screen forcing the Appointment type to Emergency, once you have completed the referral screen it will take you directly to the Referral Reasons screen skipping all the steps in between. Once confirmed all fields will be greyed out preventing changes with the exception of the referring GP / Consultant and Registered GP

Referral Screen

INDEPENDENT SECTOR
This only applies to organisations who do not use the main EMS scheduling facility. This can only be set by MEDILOGIK on the server and is a global setting. The following new values can now be recorded which will ensure that the entry appears on the consultants Daily List:

Procedure Date / Time
Procedure Room
Endoscopist

NOTES ON THE REFERRAL SCREEN

Appointment Types are configurable via the admin screen, appointment type is used to drive the Breach Date functionality within EMS

Source of Referral is dependent on the Appointment Type (i.e. the values changes depending on the Appointment Type selected) these values are also configurable from the EMS admin screens Appointment Types.

Date the referral was made (not the date it was entered onto EMS)

Therapeutic Procedures
Once you have selected the procedure type the screen will update to show a list of Therapeutic Procedures, select as appropriate, this selection is used by the EMS scheduler to determine appropriate lists/slots for the procedure.
